Ah, the differences between men and women. Where would the
comedian - or the relationship counsellor - be without them?
Now Jeff Green has jumped on the 'Men Are From Mars' bandwagon
for his first book. And just in time for Christmas, too.
That there are few surprises in The A-Z Of Living Together
is, well, no surprise. This is the familiar world where men are
useless slobs who are bad in bed and worse with the remote control,
while women like shoes and nagging - and, of course, dragging
up bygone arguments from the filing system of their mind.
Green even acknowledges this - see under C for Cliché
- but still doesn't stray too far from the well-worn path.
However, just because it's pushing buttons rather than boundaries
doesn't necessarily mean it's not funny. Men Behaving Badly managed
to mine plenty of laughs from this rich seam of comedy - possibly
to the point of exhaustion.
This self-styled survival guide isn't quite in that league,
but it does elicit more than a few laugh-out-loud moments. You
will probably find yourself sniggering - against your better
judgment - as you recognise some embarrassing personality trait.
Split into easily-digestible morsels, this is a very easy,
undemanding read - the sort of thing you could polish off in
an hour or two on a miserable afternoon, or leave as reading
material in the loo... if you're a bloke, obviously.
The A-Z Of Living Together is published by Time Warner
at £6.99. It is available from Amazon at £5.59, click
